Fur Types

 There are 4 main fur types recognized by the American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA).  

Normal (Flyback, Rollback, Dense Rollback, Standing)

Wool

Rex

Satin

Evaluating the 6 Fur Characteristics

Density - How thick the fur is. Feeling, or blowing into and seeing how close all of the hairshafts are.

Texture - How the fur feels

Length - How long the fur is

Balance - Does it look appropriate per the breed standard on the rabbit

Condition - Is it finished?  Is the rabbit prime?

Brillance - Luster/Shine


What are the Fur Types?

When stroking the fur from tail to head, the fur goes back into position quickly.

Very dense, soft and plush to the touch.  The Rex fur is also short.

Fur that is more than 3 inches in length.

Fur that has a transparent hair shaft. The transparent hair shaft causes the fur to have a sheen.
