This is one of the simplest traits to differentiate breeds. Most breeds have upright ears but all of the "____ Lop" breeds have ears that hang down at the sides of the rabbit's face.
Upright ears mean the rabbit holds the ears above their head.
The majority of the rabbit breeds have upright ears.
The lopped breeds have ears that hang down at the sides of the head.
All of these breeds have Lop in their name.

Ears that are carried below the horizontal plane.
Rabbit breeds have different ear lengths per their breed standard. This is a trait to be used to identify the rabbit's breed.
The breed standard indicates ear length less than 2 inches.
The breed standard indicates ear length between 2 and 5 inches.
The breed standard indicates ear length longer than 5 inches.
